Happy birthday baby! Hope you have a great day!
Visit Fridgg and enter yourself in a drawing for a delicious bottle of Sugoi garlic sauce from Hawaii!
Hey there, it’s been a while since I last posted. I’ve been super busy as always. Just a quick note about the new food blog (everything but sushi) that Allison and I have just launched. Check it out at http://fridgg.com/blog.
Even though the blog looks very simple and clean, there are quite a few advanced technological features here and there that make the blog very maintainable and is somewhat self-automated. However, I will not bore you to death over here with the details. :D Lets just say that I am pretty happy with how it has turned out and am quite proud of it. Now go enjoy all the food porn we have over there!
Launched officially an hour ago.
The project that my team and I at Yahoo! have been working on for the past ~4 months is now live.
Congrats to everyone on the Yahoo! Lifestyles team! :)
I’m expecting a lot of commotions and press about and around it tomorrow! :)
Go get your Shine on and start blogging!
Yahoo! Shine – http://shine.yahoo.com
By the way, check out Allison’s blog on Shine!
Just a reminder that Allison is currently running a contest over on Sushi Day for 5 free Sushi Day’s shirts. If you’re interested in winning one, head over to Sushi Day for more detail!
Btw, each shirt is worth $20! We have women’s small, medium, and large, and men’s small, medium, large, and extra large! You have about 2 days left to enter the contest. :)
Good luck!
to everyone! It has been such an extremely busy year! I’m sure the next will be as busy or even more! Maybe I will even blog more…or not…we’ll see ;)
By the way, be sure to swing by Sushi Day! for your chance to win a new Sushi Day’s t-shirt. And if you want to buy one or more for your family or friends, you will have the option to do so in a few weeks! The shirts look great!
Today is Son’s 26th Birthday! (Oh, by the way this is Allison, his girlfriend, stealing his blog for a day).
I’ve been with this goofball for 2 1/2 years now (he still thinks it’s only been a year) and things are still going great… although he is perpetually busy! You can always find him working on either something for Yahoo! or one of his other random projects. Crazy, crazy guy. So wish him a happy birthday, and tell him to take a break… he needs it!
Last week, my coworker Marvin IM’ed me this blog post about Ruby and Unicode. I thought it was really interesting how Ruby can handle Unicode this way.
So I set out to test this with PHP just to compare it with Ruby, since after all, PHP is THE language of choice at Yahoo!. :) And you know what? It works for PHP too! Even though Zend Studio IDE, the editor that I’m using to code and debug PHP, is complaining to me that my syntax is wrong, the snippet below works just fine on PHP5+.
Click here to see the raw code that you can copy and paste. Otherwise, I posted a screenshots for people whose browsers can’t read unicode. One caveat, if you do copy and paste this snippet into your favorite IDE, please encode your file with UTF8 to see the sigma symbol correctly.
Yes yes, I know I could’ve written this function much shorter. :) I just wanted to show off another thing that you can do with PHP variables. Basically, it allows me to write my variable’s name in almost any manner…not sure how useful it would be though. You can check this link out for more info about it.
So that’s that for what I have discovered in the wonderful world of PHP last week! If this is old news to you then good for you! ;) It’s new news to me.
Yes. Fly me to the mooooon. I know I know…what the hell does that mean? Well…nothing really. It’s just happened to be in the lyric to a random song that I’m listening to at this particular moment. I’m usually bad with writing title to my blog’s post…sooooo…there it is! :)
Anyhow, today was my manager’s last day at Yahoo! It is definitely sad to see a close colleague leaves. Anyhow, he’s going to the big city, NYC, to work for our old GM, who is now the President of a big company over there. I’m happy for him. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun over there. Maybe someday…I will actually set foot out of this state for once! Hahahaha. I think the farthest I have gone outside of California is Las Vegas…even then…I’d still consider that to be part of California ;). So…I digressed. Anyways, Jay, if you ever stumbled upon my blog…it’s been great working with you man! I’ve learned a lot…especially about investing. :) However, it’s kinda sad for me to talk about investing…it’s gotten to a point that I’m living from paycheck to paycheck just so I can invest (I’m in the green for the time being though, so it’s all good)! Thanks Jay… ;). In all honesty, I really do appreciate all of the great advices and tips at lunchtime about financial investing! It’s been fun!
In other news, my other coworker, Gamaiel and his wife’s baby is expected to be delivered this Sunday (or…maybe Monday)! Congratulations! Little people are fun! Well until they start crying, pooping and stuff…then it’s a different story :).
Outside of work, it’s been hell down here in the OC. With all the fire and them being so close to where I live…it’s just depressing to walk outside (the sky is orange!). The air is so polluted that it’s not even funny. It’s suffocating!
Funny side note: You know the tech bubble is about to burst when Facebook’s valuation is at 15 biiillllion dollars and that Son’s stock portfolio is consist of 90% tech stocks! :D
Good night!
