Best song ever!

For some reason, every time I listen to this song, it makes me feel all nostalgic about my childhood. I was over at Pete and Jane's place some time last week. Pete and Jane were nice enough to let me hold baby Sydney for a while. As I was trying to put her to sleep on my shoulder, Pete happened to have this song playing in Sydney's room. It's part of a lullaby collection CD that he has. The song immediately struck me as how familiar it sounds. I have heard this particular song or tune somewhere before but for the life of me, I just couldn't recollect it.

Even until now, after knowing what the song's title is, I still couldn't figure out how it has such an effect on me. Anyhow, I have included the song as a flash file, just listen to it and let me know what you think. Below...click and choose the song and then click on the little play button after it's done loading.

Well...anyways, I would write more about what's been going lately in this first week of this brand new year but as always, there are currently too many uncertainties and doubts. Therefore, as soon as I have things settled down a bit more, I promise to deliver a more comprehensive update. Moreover, I've discovered how complicate Rumba and Samba can get(!)...or maaayybbbee because of the lack of sleep and food the night before has led me to be unable to concentrate or follow instructions as well as I normally can! Crazies! Speaking of sleep, maybe I SHOULD head to bed already...it's almost 7 AM already!

I think I remembered hearing that song (with vocals) during the late 80's or early 90's. Nice version tho.

Maybe your parents played it a lot when you were a kid, but you were too young to consciously remember it. I think I'll do that to Ashlee Simpsons - Pieces of Me to my kids. hahahaha j/k j/k I'm not as cruel as the local radio stations.

Pete, haha I actually listened to these lullaby songs driving today. It was an enjoyable experience! I didn't fall asleep though.

Laureen, yeah I do like this version too. It's very relaxing. I think you might be right about the time period of this song.

Anonymous, I know who you are! Thanks for the lyric, maybe this post isn't that random afterall. The lyric does make sense in my current life situation...

Darren...maybe! Not that I remember any part of it though. Ashlee Simpsons can't sing for crap! But doing that to your kids, that's just cruel!

It's the Everly Brothers, man! It's actually from 1958 or so - sweet! There's actually some interesting songs from that period - it's sort of a period of transition in style.

Anyhow yes it's a cool song! It reminds me of Roy Orbison's "In Dreams" which you should listen to.. maybe or maybe not you'll like it. It's the same sort of depressing theme

Thanks for the info David. Depressing? I think not! I actually like the feeling I get from listening to this song. It helps relax me, especially while playing WoW!

I'll try to check out Roy's song, but if you have it, please do send it this way! Hehe...

The best song is still "Erotic City" by Prince. Nothing makes me wanna pole dance more then this song.

Son - January 10, 2005 03:51 AM

Roco, OMGS! Let's not be fruity and listen to Prince! Plz...noone wants to see you pole dance. Maybe join Nightelves' stripper dancing club! And let's not be the last commentor! I post new post soon!
